Too Small to Fail
Too Small to Fail was a personal design exploration inspired by the ideas of Ivan Illich and the institutional obsession with growth and scale. We have surrounded ourselves with tools that have become institutions, and institutions that have become tyrannical. Medicine, education, transportation, government, and Wall Street (just to name a few) all are motivated by unchecked growth which expands these tools to the point where they serve the primary purpose of expansion, oftentimes in direct conflict with human-scale and organic growth. Posters, shirts, buttons, stickers, and even business card sized “mantra mini-posters” have been produced through the years in an attempt to explore this pro-human-scale philosophy through tangible means.
